  43. I have a TS-450SAT for one year now, and it has been connected to my computer 
  44. since day one. The program I use for it, is Hyperlog, and believe me, it is a 
  45. great help. Per se, it does not let you control you rig, but it reads the 
  46. frequency and mode directly from it, as you are filling in the callsign, RST 
  47. etc. It also interfaces to SAM callbook database and GEOCLOCK, to show you the 
  48. daylight areas (for gray-line propagation).

  50. I have also tried several control programs. One that looks quite decent is a 
  51. suite comprising of three separate pieces of software : RigView, LogView and 
  52. PacView. These are inter-working programs that seem to be useful at working 
  53. with the Kenwood (or any other brand, actually). Unfortunately, althought I 
  54. bought them, I do not use them, as my log file could not be imported in 
  55. LogView, even thought the developer did try to help. If you are willing to 
  56. start you logging from scratch, they look quite good.

  58. Finally, I have a copy of another program, I think it is KENTROL (i.e. KENwood 
  59. conTROL). This looks also very nice, I can't decide which one's user interface 
  60. I like better, KENTROL or RigView. RigView emulates the dials and controls of 
  61. your radio. KENTROL uses scroll bars etc for the same purpose. If my RAM has 
  62. no parity errors, I think that KENTROL also has a logging part (ain't very 
  63. sure, but can check if the need arises).

  65. By the way, both the View suite and KENTROL are Windows applications (another 
  66. reason I never use them, hihi).

  68. I would also suggest that you look in last years QSTs for an interface, which 
  69. apart from connecting the rig to your computer, allows you also to control the 
  70. radio's filter settings, with the push of one button only. I build this 
  71. interface about six months ago, and it proved to be extremely useful.
